Angelina Jolie has dropped her legal battle with the FBI over Brad Pitt's alleged assault on a plane

After two years of anonymous lawsuits, Angelina Jolie decided to tell the court to withdraw from the case. The actress is looking for documents related to an argument on a private plane, which will lead to a long and scandalous divorce process.

Angelina Jolie has decided to end her two-year legal battle with the Justice Department and the FBI over documents related to her ex-husband Brad Pitt's abuse allegations. Jolie, who submitted the lawsuit to the court anonymously under the name "Jane Doe", informed the court of her decision on September 25, according to the court documents obtained by "In Touch".

The 49-year-old actress had requested documents from the FBI in connection with an investigation into an argument between her and Pitt on a private plane in 2016. Pitt, 60, is accused of spilling wine and beer on Jolie and one of her children during the flight, but he denies the allegation.

The FBI investigated the allegations, but no charges were brought against Pitt. Details of the incident emerged in August 2022 when a Freedom of Information Act request was made public. The documents show that Pitt choked one of his children, punched another in the face, and grabbed Jolie's head.

The conflict between Jolie and Pitt goes beyond allegations of abuse. The couple began their relationship after filming in the movie Mr. and Mrs Smith, whom she married in 2005 at his home in France in August 2014, is also embroiled in a bitter custody battle for their six children. Four of them are adults: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, 18, while twins Knox and Vivienne are 16.

Jolie and Pitt are also embroiled in a legal dispute over their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval. In 2023, Jolie sold 50% of the winery, a move Pitt believed was illegal. According to court documents, Jolie claims Pitt tried to get her to sign an $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to "force her to remain silent about allegations of abuse."

Jolie's legal team argued that she had no malice or intent to harm Pitt in response to the custody order when she sold her stake in Chateau Miraval. Instead, they claim Pitt refused to buy her out unless she agreed to a non-disclosure agreement designed specifically to keep her quiet about the abuse and its cover-up.

For his part, Pitt denied Jolie's request for access to his personal communications as part of the discovery process in the Vineyard case. His lawyers have called the lawsuits "broad" and "intrusive" and say Jolie is seeking information on sensitive issues, such as the treatment Pitt voluntarily received after the plane crash.

However, Pitt insisted he was prepared to provide "sufficient documentation to show what happened during the flight". Last July, a tipster claimed Brad would continue to press charges against Angelina because he believed their personal issues between them were unrelated to the personal issues they were dealing with at the time.

“Brad is not going to drop this lawsuit, why should he? "This is a standard business dispute, but unfortunately Angelina has introduced a personal element that belongs in divorce court," the source explained.
