Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are breaking up, but want to be friends. The Bronx singer filed for divorce on August 20 after two years of marriage to the American actor. Their children - from previous marriages - are close, and the actors shared a very sweet moment with them at the Polo Lounge Hotel in Beverly Hills on September 14.
The Unstoppable actress and The Accountant 2 star are currently splitting, a source tells PEOPLE. Lopez is the mother of twins Max and Amy with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck is the father of Violet, Finn and Samuel with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
"They want to show the kids that everything is friendly," the source said. "They'll stay friends. There's still a lot of love"
The reason for the divorce was "irreconcilable differences". They want to maintain a harmonious relationship during the divorce and discussions about the division of financial assets. "Divorce is never easy," added a source close to the former couple. Almost a month after news of their split first broke, the couple is back in the public eye. The date was in Beverly Hills and was a family brunch with the kids. The children formed a close bond during their marriage, and the two actors seemed determined to keep that bond intact no matter what happened between them.
